If you’re on a path of self-development and searching for a mindset shift or awakening of some sort, (and you may have tried different forms of therapy or coaching), it’s likely that you’ve come across talk about various plant medicine journeys and other psychedelics as an aid to achieving this shift. The use of plant medicines (like ayahuasca) is supposed to help you dig into your psyche and release deep-seated beliefs that hold you back in some areas of your life, where you may feel you’re not fulfilling your potential.

This topic is both fascinating and terrifying for me. I haven’t tried any of these more unusual forms of therapy and at the same time, I’m curious to hear about them. I have various friends and colleagues who’ve tried ayahuasca (and similar) journeys that led to significant, positive changes in their life.

The sceptic in me says that maybe they were ready to make that shift and would have done so in any case, without the psychedelics. At the same time, I’m always open to hearing more and questioning what other forms of knowledge exist in our world today and how major shifts can be created in unconventional ways.

This curiosity led to a conversation with Jonathan de Potter, Founder of Behold Retreats. Before this, Jonathan worked in management consulting, supporting clients in APAC with innovation, digital strategy, scaling and transformation programs, and today he’s left that world behind. He’s passionate about plant medicine and believes that absolutely everyone can improve their mental health and consciousness.

In our conversation,
Jonathan shares how his own journey helped him align his inner-self with the external world. We spoke about what the experience is like, how it works, is safe, and if it really leads to a major change for the positive for the people who try it.

We do know that if you’re looking to elevate your leadership game (the way you think, feel and act), alignment of your inner-self with your external environment is key to elevating your sense of spirit, freedom, passion, and quality of life.

The question is, would you consider using plant medicine (or psychedelics) to help you gain that alignment?

Would you dare to try?

The jury’s still out for me on this one and I’d love to hear what you think.
