I’ve just come back from a week away in gorgeous Cape Town, working with a client at their annual conference. It was a beautiful event in a beautiful city and I absolutely loved it.

However, the thought of coming back to an inbox with hundreds (if not thousands) of emails to sort through, which is what usually happens after a trip, was leaving me feeling unexcited, to say the least.

I’m sure you know the feeling.

For me, going on a work trip means that I’m hyper-focused on my client work and don’t spend my (very little) spare time running through my inbox, with the result that emails pile up.

I do, however, make time to scan incoming emails so that anything urgent is dealt with but that doesn’t help with the backlog piling up.

This time was different.

I came back to my inbox with much fewer emails than usual and it was wonderful!

How?

I discovered a wonderful tool that sifts your emails for you.

It automatically creates folders for:

  • Newsletters (some you really do want to read and in a separate folder, you can dip in when you choose to)
  • The black hole (for irritating marketing emails that you just can’t unsubscribe from because they never get the message)
  • Receipts (for invoices, payments, and other financials)
  • Replies (those that need follow-up)
  • And a folder for emails the tool is not yet sure where they should go

You can train it simply by moving an email to the correct folder and it remembers for next time.

For the first few days of use, you need to go through the emails and make sure things are put in the correct folders but once you’ve done that, you’re a-for-away, and voila! You get a clean, clear inbox.

It gets rid of the clutter, allows you to see the emails you really need to respond to, and move on from the rest – you don’t have to see them unless you specifically want to.

When I got back, all I had to do was go through my important emails, and in a couple of hours, I was down to a ZERO inbox. That’s never happened before.

I love it!

Here’s the tool – It’s called Sanebox and you can find it at this link

BTW, I’m getting nothing for sharing this info but if you sign up using this link, there are rewards (I think) for both of us.

I’m sharing this because I love how it’s changed my email management and it makes me so happy!
