Freedom

“Even when I’m resting… I’m not really resting.”

That’s how she started our conversation.

A brilliant, capable leader.

From the outside?

She looks like someone who’s got it all under control.

But inside?

Her inner voice doesn’t stop.

“You could’ve done better.”

“Why didn’t you think of it sooner?”

“You missed something. How?”

And she’s tired.

Not just from doing too much but from feeling like she’s never enough.

When she said those words, it hit me. I have this voice too.

I remembered one night, not too long ago, at the end of a busy day of meetings, tasks and running around—the usual stuff.

The house was finally quiet.

Everyone else had switched off for the night.

And where was I?

Sitting in front of my laptop, finishing off just one more thing.

There was that voice in my head, pushing me onwards,

“Everything is quiet now, use the opportunity to get things done.

Cross off one more thing on your to-do list.”

But then another voice rose up inside me.

A quiet, yet persistent voice.

“Why are you still here?

Maybe you’ve done enough for today.

Maybe it’s time to pause and choose YOU.”

And right there,

while I negotiated between adrenaline and exhaustion,

between the pressure to do more and the deep desire to just breathe,

I understood something simple, and powerful:

To be truly free, we need to let go.

🔹 Let go of the critical voice that only sees what’s wrong or not yet done

🔹 Let go of the need to prove yourself constantly

🔹 Let go of the old stories and thinking that say you’re not enough

🔹 Let go of the need to hold it all together, all the time

A perfect theme for this week, right in the middle of the Jewish holiday of Passover.

This is the holiday where we celebrate our freedom.

Pass over means to let go of the things that no longer serve us,

the things that hold us back and block us from our true freedom to express our full potential.

I understand that the chains we carry today are not always visible.

They live in our minds, in our habits, in the spaces where we feel like we’re falling short.

Freedom is an internal construct before it can be an external experience,

and self-leadership begins with choosing differently.

Not just running faster but knowing when to stop.

So I’ll ask you what I asked her, the brilliant, capable leader who shared her old patterns with me:

What are you ready to let go of—so you can be truly free?

As I sit here, reflecting on freedom and celebration, it feels remiss not to remember our 59 hostages, still held in captivity, waiting for their own freedom. I hope and pray that we get to see them home soon.

Wishing all who celebrate, a joyful and meaningful Passover.

May it be a holiday of true freedom, from the inside out.
