I’m excited to share that I was recently onboarded as an Official Member of the Forbes Coaches Council. Forbes Coaches Council is an invitation-only community for leading business and career coaches. Members are selected based on their depth and diversity of experience, then invited to enjoy an array of benefits including a private forum for discussion and collaboration; the opportunity to share insights by writing articles on areas of expertise; and participation on expert panels on Forbes.com.

And here is the first article with me on the expert panel.

Reflecting On What Works: Juggling Professional And Personal Life During The Holiday Season

“The holidays are a time when many professionals try to put life ahead of their work. The magic of the season is, after all, being able to celebrate with those we love. However, for a professional who’s got their mind on the job, it can be hard to disconnect.”

Forbes Coaches Council asked their expert panel to share their tips on how to deal with the juggling.

My tip:

Make sure that when you take a break, you take a real break.

If you’ve decided to take a holiday, make it your intention to disconnect as far as possible and be accessible only for real emergencies.

When you try to juggle when you’re supposed to be on vacation both your work and your holiday will suffer and you won’t have had the benefit of proper rest.

If you can’t disconnect completely, at most check work emails and messages once a day at a specific time for no more than 30 minutes. In that time, scan for what’s important and leave all the rest.

Now that the holiday is over, let’s see what we can learn and think about your next one, share your thoughts-I’d love to know.
