You know the saying, “life happens while we’re making plans”?
We know the feeling when, as we go about our day-to-day, something happens, and in a few moments that all our best-laid plans get turned upside down.
There’s a wonderful poem by Andy Rooney (14 Jan 1919 – 4 Nov 2011), an American radio and television writer, called I’ve learned.
And here’s one of my favorite lines from it:
I’ve learned… that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.
I love this quote also because I can relate to it through my own experience of climbing Kilimanjaro (read about it here).
Life can throw us a whole lot of challenges. Those are the experiences that take us to a new level of insight and growth and this is what today’s podcast is about.
Molly & Chris Maxwell, married with 4 kids, share their story of how their life was thrown into turmoil in a matter of days.
Chris went from being a fully functioning human, going about his regular, wonderful life, as one tends to do, to being hooked up to a ventilator, fighting for his life. Out of nowhere, he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Nine months in hospital, fighting for his physical and mental health put him and his family to the test.
They lived through a tough challenge and came through with courage, tears, laughter, and a whole lot of gratitude.
