I certainly resonate with this sentiment. I always think I can fit way more into one day than I actually can and then when I look back over a month, all the actions I took add up to more than I expect. It’s about perspective.
This could be the reason we ditch our New Year goals early on in the year.
We somehow see 1 January as an opportunity to put EVERYTHING on our wish-list and hope that this year things will magically change.
However, magical thinking doesn’t work.
What does work?
- Think of the big vision you want to achieve in the long term – 5 years or 10 years from today.
- For the short term, ask yourself if what you’re doing is in alignment with that vision or not? If it’s not, look at what needs to change – in you, your environment and your actions. Consistent action and focus will get you there. I call this – creating HABITS.
So instead of new year’s resolutions, get clear on your big vision and the habits you need to create to help you grow towards your vision.
Ditch resolutions! Focus on habits for growth.

Take time to reflect on your habits from last year – which do you want to toss? Which do you want to keep?
