The cost of being the “go-to” person

Here’s something I see in my practice: Most high achievers I meet aren’t stuck because they’re failing.
They’re stuck because they’ve outgrown what they’re excellent at.

The work feels safe, respected, even rewarding… but deep down, the spark is gone.
Being the “go-to” person is exhausting because you’re stuck in your Zone of Excellence.

This is not the same as your Zone of Genius.

Your Zone of Genius is where you feel alive, in flow, fully yourself.
Where you could spend hours and come out more energized than when you started.
Your brilliance shines through effortlessly and it’s also where your biggest impact lives.

But here’s the challenge:
It’s not always easy to find your Zone of Genius or to stay in it.

I recently recorded a short video on this topic where I walk you through Gay Hendricks’ “Four Zones” model from his book, The Big Leap. I show you how to spot where you are.

So take 4 minutes (or less if you watch it faster) and watch the video here.

 Watch the video here

As you watch, ask yourself:

What’s in my Zone of Excellence — things I do brilliantly but don’t love?

What’s in my Zone of Genius — things that light me up because they feel fun and effortless?

How much of my week am I actually spending in each of these zones?

There should be an 80/20 split here (genius to excellence).

And here’s another question worth reflecting on:
How much of your time are you spending in your Zone of Competence?
This is the real energy drainer, the stuff you can do but shouldn’t.
Delegate these tasks ASAP and reclaim your energy!

Hit reply and tell me — What’s one thing in your Zone of Genius, and one thing that’s keeping you stuck in Excellence.

I’d love to hear from you.

Here’s to finding (and staying in) your Zone of Genius.

P.S. If you feel that your full brilliance isn’t showing up every day, you might be due for a shift.

For a limited time, I’m offering a “Get Brilliant” mini session – 45 minutes focused entirely on helping you pinpoint what’s holding you in Excellence and how to start living more in your Genius for just $99.

If you’d like to book a session, reply with “I’m in” and I’ll send you the details.
