WHAT NEXT vs What’s next?
Sometimes we get pre-occupied with the big picture question – WHAT NEXT?
Other ways of asking this are: Where am I going? What’s my next big thing? What’s the next level?
We’re so busy looking out there, towards the future – 100 steps ahead – that we forget to focus on the next action step that will take us forward. The question – What’s next?
Our big goals are there to inspire us, keep us motivated and give us direction.
At the same time, we can’t lose sight of the actions that will keep moving forward, towards those big goals. These actions bring us closer to our vision and make it more real.
Sometimes (and this is where I am right now) we have a sense of the WHAT NEXT but don’t have enough of the details to know exactly what it looks like. This causes frustration because we want to aim for and reach our big dream.
Yet keeping our focus on the what’s next, keeps us in action, a step closer on the path that is unfolding before us.
I remembered this today, in my own coaching session and as a result my day was filled with joy in my next steps, my what’s next.
Both are important and focus belongs in the what’s next… the next step that will bring us closer to our WHAT NEXT.
I wrote this post with my dear friends in mind who are going through some health challenges at the moment. The focus for now is the what’s next, the next step in the journey of healing and recovery, as we hold on to the WHAT NEXT of a full recovery – back to full strength and reaching more dreams.
