Why don’t we talk about it?

What I’m about to share affects millions of women—quietly, invisibly, and often without the words or space to say, “This is what I’m going through.”

So if you live with, work with, love, raise or interact with women in any way… (and of course, if you’re a woman) this is for you.

This conversation matters.

Here goes,

I’ll admit—it took me a while to talk about it too.

The signs started earlier than I expected… before 45.

Constant exhaustion, low moods, restless sleep, a kind of emotional fog I couldn’t name.

But I didn’t call it menopause.

I felt way too young for this stage of life and it was the furthest thing from my mind.

The women around me didn’t seem to be going through it—no one said anything.

And neither did I.

Everyone looked energised, busy, successful…

And I thought, maybe it’s just me.

So I stayed quiet.

Pretended everything was fine. Kept going.

It took me some time to realise…

And eventually I did.

This is menopause.
Not just hot flashes.
But a full-body, full-soul shift that can shake your energy, your emotions, your identity.

And once I realised that, I also saw—I’m not the only one keeping it all inside.

So why don’t we talk about it?

Maybe because:

·       We don’t always realise what it is—the signs are subtle and confusing

·       It feels awkward to name it

·       Admitting it feels like saying we’re no longer young, or like something in us has faded

·       We think we’re the only ones struggling while everyone else is holding it together

·       We don’t have the words to describe what we’re feeling

·       Every woman’s experience is different (some really are sailing smoothly through it)

·       And honestly? The world expects us to carry on as usual. Quietly. Gracefully. Without making a fuss.

But this isn’t a small thing.

It impacts work, life, everything.

And it can also spark something deeper, something even more powerful.

I’m still in it, but I’ve started to see that this stage of life is not a breakdown.

I see it as a call and an invitation.

To reconnect with myself and others more meaningfully.

To realign.

To find meaning, purpose and the kind of joy that comes from inside, not from ticking boxes or doing it all.

Our brains are literally rewiring themselves at this stage of life so that we ask ourselves not just: What’s next?

But… What matters now?

And what we need most is space.

To talk. To name things. To feel.

A space without judgment, without quick fixes. Just space to be.

It’s time to start talking about it.

That’s why I created Menopause Mojo

It’s a two-part, in-person workshop designed to help women understand what’s going on in their body, feel supported and reconnect with their spark.

More details below.

And to all of us, women and men, here’s something to reflect on:

In the U.S. alone, over 33 million women aged 45 and over are part of the workforce.

That’s nearly half of all working women, many of them silently navigating menopause.

And yet… It’s still one of the most taboo and ignored topics in professional settings.

So I’ll leave you with this question:

What are the taboo topics we’re still not talking about in the workplace?

And as leaders, how are we showing up for the people in our teams who may be silently navigating life-shifting transitions?

It starts by making space.

By listening.

By daring to have the conversations we would rather avoid.

Let’s begin here!

Hit reply and tell me, what’s on your mind?

Here’s to making space for the conversations that matter.
