You know that voice in your head that speaks to you and often sows seeds of self-doubt?

We all have it. Our unique inner critic that exclaims “idiot” (or something similar) when we make a mistake. The one that says, “You’re not good enough” when you’re already low on confidence.

That voice is our saboteur. Sometimes there’s more than one! We need to notice the way we speak to ourselves (inside our heads) and make it way more supportive, loving and kind.

Think about it this way. You’d never say those things to someone you love – your best friend, your spouse, your child. So why are you speaking that way to you?

Your saboteur is trying to protect you, but they are misguided. At best, they hold you back from maximising your potential.

At worst, they leave you depressed, lacking confidence and demotivated. I’ll leave you with this thought, in the words of Brene Brown, Speak to yourself the same way you’d speak to your best friend.

When your best friend is feeling low, what would you say to them? You’d be caring, loving and supportive. Use the same words on yourself.
